(Letter written to Air Force Academy general after he had ordered the removing of Bible verses students wrote on public boards available for students to use.) Dear Gen. Lengyel: As you are aware, the First Amendment to the constitution guarantees each American the freedom of religion. Sadly, some people are waging a war to change our nation to having (at least publicly) freedom from religion. The National Defense Authorization Act upholds our nations foundational document by specifically stating religious beliefs must be accommodated by the Armed Forces. This includes the Air Force Academy. I am concerned that your staff has taken orders from civilian and anti-Christian advocate Mikey Weinstein to remove a Bible verse from a cadets whiteboard. As I understand, the whiteboard is allowed for personal use. To deny the cadet his right to write a Bible verse, while allowing others to post other content clearly demonstrates a distinct case of religious discrimination. I encourage you stand up for the constitution youve sworn to protect and restore the religious liberties cadets (and any Americans) are entitled to. I also urge you to provide training to instructors, faculty and staff who interact with cadets, to insure no cadet is stripped of religious rights.
