Let’s face it, we do not live in a fairy tale where everything is in perfect place – no conflicts, and only love and happiness exists. In reality, all marriages encounter conflicts and problems and the outcome will depend on how the couples handle these problems. Unfortunately, marital conflicts which lead to separation or divorce are more common nowadays than happy marriages. One of the reasons for this is probably because one or both parties lack knowledge in handling the situation and are too stubborn to admit that theirs is not a perfect marriage. A happy marriage is possible but a lasting harmonious relationship is something that couples need to work hard on. Here is a list of the most common causes of a broken marriage that couples should look out for: 1. Infidelity Trust and loyalty are two things that hold the couples together aside from love. Betrayal to your partner once can be forgiven, but that the trust there is already stained, you have to exert effort to rebuild it and show to your partner that you are worth the second chance. Relationship is something about trust. But how can you live side by side to a person whom you no longer trust because you caught him having an affair to other women or men a couple of times? A marriage full of betrayal can never grow stronger; instead it keeps getting weaker until it all breaks down into pieces right in front of you. 2. Lack of communication One common misconception that people in a relationship have is the thought that problems when not dealt with will soon fade away. Little did they know that it will not be resolved in its own, instead it will just lie there or live in your thoughts. And problems that build up are like a plague, it will eat the whole of you until you can no longer take it. Then it would either be too late to resolve the issue or the problem has done so much damaged already. 3. Lack of time Relationship is like a plant, you need to shower it with love and time for it to bloom. Any relationship without communication and time will soon weaken and wither. You may be leading a busy life but you also have to understand that there is so much that happened to your partner in a day; and a day or two without communicating with your partner means a chance that you let slip away to get closer with him or her. There are more reasons that cause marriage to fail but the above mentioned are the most common, and fortunately, the easiest to handle. If you happen to notice any of these in your relationship, better find time to sit with your partner and settle the issue before it worsens. Compromising also plays a major role in keeping any romantic relationship intact so make sure to add this ingredient in your relationship.
