Let’s reverse things...lets go back to the time before Outsa Mokone was arrested; Edgar Tsimane applied for asylum in South Africa; and Dick Bayford had to file an urgent application to force Outsa’s release...My take is that security agents should let Outsa go back to his office, return his CPU...then we start the proper process, in a civil manner, like we always do. A right of reply and or correction would do. As journalists we are just mortals, lets reason to rise above differences. I am of the view that Setswana idiom of Molemo wa kgang ke go buiwa has galvanised our democracy over time and we should continue to uphold it. Let’s not be foolhardy, arresting journalists will only attract negative publicity - nothing more. Forget the context or circumstances of the arrest, more so that the arrest has something to do with their job. I will always be of the view that the role of the state is to be an impartial referee. We can do better at addressing some of these issues.
