Leverton lose to veteran team Treswell. Leverton 6 – Treswell 14 In their second cup match of the season, Leverton were no match for Treswell. Leverton won the toss and went in to field; the game looked good for Leverton as an excellent catch from L Whitehead (2) saw F Garner (0.5) out quickly as well as Leverton’s triangle seeing out A Jones on first post. J Jackson was also quickly out and Leverton thought they were in with a chance with 4 of the opposition out within 10 minutes. However, Treswell settled and S Taylor(3.5), J Garner (2), V Eeles (4), J Mimms(2) and M Highfield(1) all batted well gaining a quick total of 9 in their first innings. As Leverton went into bat, Treswell were really tight with fielding especially on 2nd post stopping any half rounders being scored. E Cleaver came in to bat and hit it deep into the field only to be caught out by Treswell’s excellent fielding. Their first rate team field arrangements also meant that C Bowskill and E Williamson left scoring nought for Leverton. Garner caught out M Cleaver behind on first bowl and D Schofield, K Hayes (0.5) and M Pattinson were all out pretty quickly leaving L Baker, D Marsh (1.5), T Gaskin (0.5) and N Mills(1.5) to get Leverton on the score sheet. Treswell went into bat again and there was no stopping them. Though Leverton’s fielding was spot on with excellent catches from L Whitehead and D Marsh as well as a controversial battle for the post between N Mills and F Garner, outstanding performances from S Taylor, M Parker (1), J Garner , Eeles and Mimms meant that Leverton couldn’t catch Treswell. Treswell gained another 5 making a total match score of 14 for them.
