Lexi is shipping boxes of clothing for refugee families that left their homes in Eastern Ukraine for safety. She is doing this first out of the goodness of her heart and decided to do it as part of her Ukrainian scout project. Today our former egg boxes from Shoprite New Paltz, filled with clothing of all sizes were picked up and shipped to Kharkiv, birthplace of my mother. As we prepare for Ukrainian Christmas Eve we are thinking of the families that are missing a member at their table this year. Ukrainian custom is to have a place setting set with food for those that are no longer are with us because their spirits will be present. Im thinking of the young men (all under 30) that were traveling to replace others that were defending Ukraine. Those traveling were killed last night in a tragic bus crash and didnt even make it to the front. Thinking of their families and friends at this time and we have a candle burning to remember all others affected by this war and those in our own family that have died. bbc/news/world-europe-30694805
