Lexie Update: I wont share the particulars (TMI) but Lexie is feeling better. Diabetes is a silent stalker and it attacked with vim and vigor. The insulin-new pump combo is not FDA recommended (together). We found out the hard way. She slowly got *very* sick over the past week. This morning, anyone else would have stayed in bed or at least gone to the hospital for IV rehydration and insulin but she went to school because some days she feels this bad and just plows through. (sigh) She wanted to fight, so she stood up to the nausea and vomiting with 20 units of insulin, gallons of water and constant monitoring - and that was just the first 3 hours! She made enough progress to return to school but had to maintain the highly attentive routine to finish out the last 2 classes. Her strength is incredible when things are the hardest. Since she got sick over such a long time, it will be another day or two before she can rest and go back to normal. Not out of the woods, but doing much better. Shes smiling.
