Liberals and Conservatives, Right and Left, Homophobes and Baby killers…. Has it really come to this? I am so tired of the daily jabs that each group feels so inclined to take at each other. Whether it is making fun of, or being hateful toward those of opposing views… most of it has ignorance in common. Condemning gun owners and condemning gay people, parading around every belief of our favorite news channel or joining protests and/or riots without sufficient thought or knowledge, it’s so sad, America. When are we going to stop painting with the huge brush that colors all people strictly right or left? I find myself lost in the middle, trying to think for myself and praying that love will somehow conquer. I may lean further one way, but I don’t want to be shoved into a category. Is finding possible goodness in others, opposite you, an extinct concept? When are we going to sit down with someone who has opposing beliefs and hear their heart? When will we, at least attempt to, understand another life, or hear a voice that is different than our own? It doesn’t mean agreement, but it can mean civilized discussion, debate, and some form of understanding. Mature discussion might even allow for others to see your points of view and make sense of them. At least half of this free country doesn’t think exactly like you, it might be worthwhile.
