Max Willies book - “Where Charles Taylor Went Wrong”. Monrovia — A book named and styled Where Charles Taylor went wrong has been launched in Monrovia. Written by Liberian journalist Max Willie, the book lays bare the issues and events that culminated into the downfall of former Liberian President now convicted war criminal Charles Taylor. The book, according to Willie, is an insiders story unrehearsed about Taylors overgenerous approached to governance and his twisted perception on international relations that led him into the state he finds himself in today. The book is a representative model which disesteems the intrigues that often characterized the stories of former Liberian President Charles Taylors armed revolt, his presidency and eventual unceremonious exit from power, said Malcolm Joseph of the Center for Media Studies and Peace Building (CEMESP), during the launch of the book in Monrovia on Thursday February 20, 2014. Published in the United States of America on June 28, 2013, Where Charles Taylor went wrong provides the platform for another period to delve into prompt action initiated by some well-known members of the international community to drag Taylor to court in the Hague for war crimes committed in Sierra Leones war while giving the blind-eye to the more serious one conducted in Liberia by Taylor. Taylors missteps and failures in Liberia as well as his ill-advised role in Sierra Leone were cited as some of the reasons where he went wrong, according to the book. Speaking during the launch of the book former Press Attaché to the Liberian Embassy in Washington D.C under Taylor and now owner of Power TV radio station Mr. Aaron Kollie commended Willie for the publication adding that the book will form an interesting reading for national leaders of Liberia. It will serve as an effective guide that when you hold a national leadership position, there are certain actions and reactions that can contribute to your success or downfall.
