Library Company of Philadelphia Post-Doctoral Fellowships for 2014-2015 National Endowment for the Humanities Post-Doctoral Fellowships support research in residence at the Library Company on any subject relevant to its collections, which cover a variety of fields relating to the history of America and the Atlantic World from the 17th through the 19th centuries. Fellows must be U.S. citizens or have been living in the U.S. for at least three years. At least two fellowships will be awarded for periods extending from four to nine months. The stipend is $4,200 per month. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. by November 1, 2013. For more information about the NEH award, email James Green at [email protected]. Program in Early American Economy and Society Post-Doctoral Fellowships support research in the collections of the Library Company and other nearby institutions on a wide range of topics concerning the American economy, such as Atlantic and global dimensions of the American economy, its commerce, business, technology, manufacturing, agriculture, internal development, or political economy, down to the 1850s. The stipend is $40,000 for nine consecutive months of research, or $20,000 for the fall or spring semester. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. by September 1, 2014. For more information about PEAES fellowships, visit librarycompany.org/economics or contact Cathy Matson, Program Director, at [email protected] Program in African American History Post-Doctoral Fellowships support research in the collections of the Library Company and other nearby institutions on a wide range of topics related to the history and culture of people of African descent in early America, such as comparative slavery and emancipation in the Atlantic World, race and gender in the abolitionist movement, the emergence of African American churches, minstrelsy and the performance of race, Haiti and the Haitian Revolution, race and medicine, colonization movements, African American nationalism, race in visual culture, and African American literature and print culture. The stipend is $50,000 for nine consecutive months of research, or $25,000 for one semester. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. by September 1, 2014.
