Library and Exams Officer The incumbent will be responsible to the Finance and Administration Officer Basic Job Function To facilitate and support learning through the online learning management system and teach information retrieval skills to students and staff within classrooms or virtual learning environments. Major Activities of the Job • Developing and managing collections of books and journals (both paper and electronic), as well as websites; dealing with budgets and, in some cases, purchasing resources; • Maintaining relationships with external bodies, such as suppliers, other academic partners and stakeholders. • Contributing to academic course development and liaising with academic staff; • Managing and supporting the provision of reading lists and allocating length of loans; • Creating, updating and managing information resources, both electronic and printed; • Selecting, acquiring and cataloguing information using library and information software; • Assisting researchers with literature searches using databases, printed resources and the internet; • Delivering information and learning skills courses for students and staff; • Dealing with user enquiries, which may involve one-on-one advice sessions; • Keeping up to date with relevant professional developments in the library sector; • Participating in professional groups or networks. establish detailed procedures to ensure trouble-free operation of the examinations system. • Ensure that examination papers (and marking schemes) are set, internally moderated, vetted by the external examiner, printed and proof read at the appropriate time. • Ensure that scripts are marked anonymously with appropriate checking of completeness and of marks addition. Similarly, the marks lists used by Boards of Examiners should be checked for accuracy. • Liaise with the College, partner University’s Examinations Office regarding the examination arrangements for students with special requirements, assess all students before alternative examination arrangements can be put in place. • Establish detailed procedures to ensure trouble-free operation of the examinations system. • Coordinate the production of draft examination papers by College module teachers for examinations in each semester and for resit examinations. • Liaise with the Examiner(s) to obtain feedback on the draft examinations papers, and to supply him/her with relevant examples of student examination scripts and coursework, marks lists etc. • Receive mark sheets generated by lecturers. Ensure completed mark sheets are returned to the Students and Accounts Office for uploading into database by published deadlines to enable the production of marks lists for use by Boards of Examiners. • Bring Extenuating Circumstances to the attention of the School Board of Examiners.
