Life at Plaza Point apartments I am one of the original residents of Plaza Point Apartments, which received the coveted Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) award upon completion of construction by Danco in 2012. Tenants enjoy affordable rent, a beautiful community room, a workout room, and a very nice backyard with both decorative and edible landscaping and raised beds for tenants’ use. Our apartments are modern and tasteful. Green building supplies have been used wherever possible. The energy created by our solar panels is split equitably among the apartments. All energy costs generated in the common areas, including the elevator, are covered by the owner of the building. My energy bill is normally less than $4 per month, which covers all my energy usage, including the water heater dedicated to my apartment. We have a maintenance person from Danco who works at our building one day a week making requested repairs. We have a live-in manager who has been kind and professional. There are policies in place for dealing with tenants’ concerns. Our management company, AWI, provides the tenants with free donuts and coffee once a week and the main course for a potluck once a month. Being a tenant at Plaza Point comes with other perks. We are able to attend Co-op cooking classes in Arcata and a Pilates-based class at Core Pilates, both at no cost to us.
