Life changing week in San Raymundo, Guatemala with Laura Fortner - TopicsExpress

Life changing week in San Raymundo, Guatemala with Laura Fortner and some of the most servant hearted people on the planet.... Over 500 people from this village and surrounding areas (some walking 6 hours and others driving from Mexico and Belize) to seek free medical care for life threatening and life limiting diseases from 54 volunteers and 12 translators. Contaminated water is unavoidable in this area- so Refuge International started a de-worming mission years ago and it has made a HUGE impact for a population whose infant mortality rate was sky rocketing because of round worms, whip worms and tape worms. Most people on this area wont name their babies for a month bc the infant mortality rate is so high. While medical care is free, most wait years for serous procedures at the national hospital while others avoid medical care altogether for fear of dying in the hospital. This explains why we saw people with very advanced illnesses such as the basketball sized tumor in a woman Laura treated, prolapsed uteruses, club feet, spina bifida, absesses, untreated compound fracture that will result now in a amputation and countless numbers who are malnourished and dealing with chronic dehydration, scabies, worms and illness. I got to scrub in on surgeries to assist with hysterectomies, a C-section delivery and mass removals and witnessed how God has gifted Laura Fortner with hands that work miracles. To say she is a gifted surgeon is an understatement - she did close to 15 life changing operations. My heart sings that she is able to have a full life through Arbonne AND use her God given gifts volunteering as such an amazing servant. Never take for granted the gift of clean water, worm-free soil and food, access to incredible medical care, shoes that fit, transportation other then your two feet, a family, socks, a roof over your head and, for women and being acknowledged as an equal. Know that for only 3 cents you can de-worm a child and for just a small donation, you can help Refuge International install wells to provide Guatemalans with clean water.
