Life emerged with the positive re-enforcement of the reproductive triad of molecules--RNA, DNA and Proteins. This vast network of reproductive molecules and their ever-evolving ability to filter, store and pass along information from one cell to other constitutes the dynamic and global network of evolving embodiments that we call the bioshere. Individual beings and species are are all co-evolving sub-divisions of this global system. Lovelock and Margulis called her Gaia. Consciousness emerges from embodiment as proprioception interacts with mind. This conversation between embodiment and mind continues all through life at every level in the holarchy from molecules to the biosphere as a planetary whole (holon). This concept has nothing to do with little people inside little people and infinite regression. Embodiment, mind and consciousness emerge piecemeal from level of complexity to the next, just like eyes and language does, .
