Life has a funny way. Today I went on a casting call for a commercial I am ethically unsure about, but decided to try my hand as a new experience when my agent called. The real gift was in the waiting room, when a dark and beautiful woman began to share stories. She won Nick Caves typewriter (and pulled out the electric blue beauty onto her lap.) She affirmed Cat Power from the audience during a meltdown on stage. When I asked her name, she stuck out her hand. Nicole Blackman. One of my high school favorite poets. I remember opening the gift my mother bought for me from my list of desired books. There she was in a white tank top covered in blood. And here she was next to me today, telling me the best secrets.
