Life is About Creating Yourself Ambition is a strong desire to achieve something in life. A person without any ambition is like a boat without rudder. Having an ambition needs continuous efforts towards achieving it. One cannot achieve anything if one just day dreams and does nothing. A strong will-power and determination will carry a person forward against all obstacles. One should have a noble aim in life and strive hard honestly, sincerely and with dedication to achieve it. “Life is about creating yourself.” It is about realizing that we have the ability to craft and shape who we are and what we experience in this world. We have the ability to decide what we believe in, what we can do and also how we perceive and absorb those things around us. We get to choose how we will act on our desires and interests and what actions we take to become that person we envision and desire. All of that boils down to the reality that we actually do have the ability to create ourselves. We just have to find way to believe in that and act on it. I was really astonished after reading some of the biographies of rich people. There were three reasons in order to become successful. You must have the ambition, a goal and a destination. To me ambition is really important when it comes to my family and my friends. I usually don’t want to reach a goal or try to achieve something for myself rather than to make others happy. Sometimes certain things like my family let me go far beyond my own limits and after I have achieved something, which I thought I could never get to, I feel awesome. The decision to enter a career in teaching is not something to be taken lightly. There are hundreds and hundreds of other careers to choose from. So I ask myself this question and ponder the reasons, why I want to become a teacher. Is this really my destination? Upon asking another teacher this question I got a quick response. Some of the other reasons people might give are such things like: extrinsic and intrinsic rewards; they feel a calling to teach; a chance to positively impact the community; having a commitment to students; and being a good role model. But just what does all this mean to me and my pursuit to be an educator? Ultimately, I believe it will lead to a brighter future for me, and for my family. Let us take a little deeper look at some of the rewards of teaching. Everyone wants to be recognized for things they do in life, whether they are willing to admit it or not. I would love one day to have my name called out at an assembly to receive a certificate, plaque, or maybe even a banner, for being awarded Teacher of the Year. This would be a really great way to mark my accomplishments and distinguish myself among my colleagues. Teaching is not all about fame and recognition though. I think what will drive me more than anything will be the intrinsic rewards. Knowing that I am doing a job that makes a difference, like teaching a child how to read and write, learn what respect is, and take responsibility for their actions will be meaningful. Those things alone are far more valuable than rewards of recognition or money.
