Life is funny..... The attorney we met with is an absolute doll and I gather her relationship with the people at my new job also played an important role in todays meeting. My Mama surprised me. She was coherent through all the process and listened intently to the interpreter. I had insisted that an interpreter be present because even though there is so much trust between my Mama and I, I wanted to make sure she fully understood the paperwork she was signing and that she was in total agreement of what was about to be done on her behalf. She was really calm and peaceful about it all. She lovingly told the attorney, through the interpreter, how incredibly blessed she felt to have a daughter who genuinely only has her best interest at heart. I fought the tears. After a year of battles, some days, when I hear things like this I get very emotional. We signed all the papers and this attorney will be working as our voice to get Medicaid for Mama. I feel like a big load has been lifted. Next, to get off her current HMO program which sucks! We went to a lovely new Cuban restaurant I discovered on our way there and shared some wonderful food, love, laughter, tears and joy as we drank our white Sangria. Nap time....... :-)
