Life is our teacher and the events in life are our daily lessons. We can choose to show up early and pay close attention everyday with eagerness or we can show up late and take what we learn everyday for granted. One thing is for sure the pop-quiz is coming, you may not know the time or day but it will come. In life just as in class it’s the ones that came to class eager to learn and took lots of notes that seem to not mind that he/she is uncertain of the date of the test because there is an inner confidence that says, “I have prepared the best I can, so I welcome the challenge.” Those that did not prepare and pay attention to all the little lessons adding up everyday complain and whine as though they are surprised that the teacher gives pop quizzes. Inevitably the day comes when we walk in and the teacher says put your books away, it’s time for a test. The room always gets silent during a test, to the point that you can hear a pin drop. The teacher usually says, “No more talking till after the test. “ The teacher then sits quietly and watches all the test takers till they are done. Very often there are those who in the midst of a test will seek answers and the teacher always says, “sshhh no talking during a test. “ This metaphor for life is one we can relate to and have experienced at some point but in our lives. How often do we seek answers during the test with no avail?!? Yes occasionally you’ll cheat and get an answer from a classmate but that doesn’t insure success. As in class we need to show up early, have the right tools, pay attention and be eager to learn everyday not just after we get the test and are surprised by the results. Start today by looking around you and being totally present and in the now. Take notes, be eager, be thankful and maybe learn a little from some of your classmates. This way when the inevitable pop-quiz shows up you can smile and expect the results you will get to take you to the next grade or evolutionary path you are on. Much Love,
