Life is so fragile. When friends and family pass on from this - TopicsExpress

Life is so fragile. When friends and family pass on from this life, it really makes us think about life in general: what the meaning of life is, and why we are here. No matter what hard times we go through, we need to remember that God formed each and every one of us for a purpose, and we should praise Him in all circumstances. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. ~ Psalm 139:14 (NIV) If your life were to end tomorrow, can you say that youre ready to go? Some people, especially those who dont know the Lord, fear death because it is an unknown. Life is so fragile, and death can be so painful to those of us left behind, but there is also hope for those of our faith. We believe what we believe because it gives us hope that this life isnt it - there is life beyond this life, according to the Bible, and there are only two choices one can make that defines where one goes after he or she passes on: heaven, or hell. People dont like to talk about hell much, and like to only imagine that everyone goes to a better place, some form of heaven that theyve devised in their mind, but according to God, there is only one way there, and that is through Jesus Christ. Simply put, if you dont believe that Jesus is your Saviour and Lord, and ask him to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart to guide you in your life, then you wont get to heaven. Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. ~ John 14:6 (NLT) What is the point to life? We never know when our lives will end, and when you think about it, there are so many people on this planet. Everyone is so focused on themselves that they dont really stop to think about others - this, I have found, is a rare quality to find in a person. The Bible says that God knows us so well that He knows how many hairs are on our heads. That just blows my mind away, because I happen to have a full head of hair! And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So dont be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. ~ Luke 12:7 (NLT) This also means that God knows every single person on the planet - those who are currently living, and every single person who has lived and died as well. Can you even imagine that? My mind cant fathom it - it is definitely a wonder that my limited human brain cant fully comprehend. God desires that every single person that He knows comes to be with Him after passing through this life, which is even more amazing! I dont know everything about everything, but the one main thing that I have learned is that God needs to be my number one focus, and my second is loving people - no matter whether or not they like me or treat me justly; building relationships with them, loving them, accepting them, and being there for them through the ups and downs of life. This is how we can show Gods love, because no matter what mistakes we make in our lives, He loves us unconditionally. He even loves murderers, and rapists, and those who commit violent crimes. Its hard for our human minds to comprehend, but to God, someone who kills another, and someone who steals a lollipop from a toddler are equal - neither mistake or sin is greater than the other - they are both just that: a sin that was committed, a blemish created from the choices we make in life, and its that blemish that separates us from Him. “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses? Jesus replied, You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” ~ Matthew 22:36-40 (NLT) Thankfully, Jesus is our bridge to God - He paid the price, the cost that we owed God for being the sinful creatures that we are, and it is only through Him that we can one day be face to face with God without fear, and instead, we can face Him with love, joy, gladness, and admittedly a little sadness, knowing that we couldnt live up to His expectations on our own, but lastly, thankfulness that, because He loves us so much, He had a plan to bring as many of us back to Him as possible, through His Son, Jesus Christ. As believers who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we can know in our hearts that we will be spending eternity with Him, and there will be no more tears or sadness. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever. ~ Revelation 21:4 (NLT) Some would argue that the Christian faith is a bunch of bologna, but is it not better to live having hope in your heart for the future and not fear death or what comes afterwards, than to feel afraid of the time of our end and the unknown, allowing hopelessness, depression, and fear overtake you because you dont even understand the meaning of life, your life, or worse: to believe that death is the absolute end and there is nothing after that? What would be the point to life, if death is the final destination? Even worse still, in my mind, would be to think that I would be coming back again to live another life; life on this earth is filled with so much pain and sorrow - would I really want to come back to face that again, but as someone else? I recently heard on the news about a woman who recently passed away in British Columbia in Canada. She was a newlywed, and five months pregnant, and all of a sudden she was gone... she had a brain aneurism that damaged her brain beyond repair, but the doctors were able to keep her body alive for four months to give the baby in her womb a chance at life, so that the babys father would at least not lose both his wife and unborn child. The baby was born today, and the doctors allowed the mothers body to die naturally after the birth. She was probably about my age. We never know when our time will come, and none of the material things we have on this planet will come with us - not our house, our belongings, or even our family. Each one of us is only responsible for ourselves, and what we believe in our hearts determines how we face this life, and where we go after its over. Are you ready?
