Life is tough in the wild. This young Redtail was in the yard this morning, short one head. I would imagine it was from a Great Horned Owl as they are very territorial and like patrolling the area for leftover training birds that dont make it back to the pens in time. The homing pigeons are always roosted well before dark, something this guy should have learned. I think it happened yesterday evening as his body was frozen. I would guess he never knew what hit him. I couldnt find his head, Im thinking it was a nice owl snack.
