Life is what happens while youre busy making other plans. :-) Yep. Thats what happened to me today. AND yep. Something to do with my car.....again. I had planned to go visit my buddies of Barry Buse & Redneck Limousine playing their bluesy tunes at the Gastropub in CP this afternoon. Apparently, that wasnt meant to be. I had one errand to do on the way - briefly stopping at a business in Almonte . But as I came back out and turned the key to start the car.....it simply wouldnt start. Working one minute; but not in the next. What????? Okay, so I tried a few more times and then I went through ideas of what it might be. Finally, after calling Kirby for ideas....and then calling Sonja (who was in CP) to let her know what was going on, my friend, Christy, was at home and able to help regarding a boost. However, the boost was unsuccessful, as my car wouldnt respond at all.....and some wispy smoke appeared briefly. Eek!! All right - tow truck time! Next step was to call CAA and get that ball rolling. Christy was a sweetheart and stayed with me - and we made the most of it! Chatting - yah!! - until the tow truck arrived to take me back up to Arnprior to my new mechanic. Close to 45 min. wait. The reigning guess as to what it might be was.....most likely the starter motor. Mike, the tow truck driver, was also very sweet. His friendly smile and helpfulness made the whole towing experience easy and pleasant. On our scenic route to Arnprior, Mike and I had a fun conversation as well. We also had a bit of fun, when the service place he headed for once we were in Arnprior was NOT the one I had in mind - a confusion of names - hahaha! But no sweat, he said; hed get me to the right place. And finally, I had been in contact with my lads back at the house, regarding being picked up from the mechanics place. All in all.....inconvenient though it was for my original plans and how it will affect my plans in the next few days......still..... I felt very lucky to have Kirby and Sonja to talk to, when I felt at a loss....and for Christy to spend some time with me, when a friend is much appreciated! And I felt lucky to have had such an enjoyable towing experience with Mike (from Apple Hill Towing in CP). And my boys showed up and brought me back home. I am in good hands.
