Life lessons with Riddick #178 “I got to play a really fun game this afternoon. Apparently it is called”A better place to dig”. I didnt realize it was a game at first. I just thought mom was being mean and taking my bone from me. I think my game of “See what is at the bottom of the planter” is more fun, but she wanted to try this one so I played along. As best as I can figure she takes a toy that I was playing with and hides it in the dirt. I am supposed to find it. It was harder than you would think. It is an old bone so I couldnt smell it, but when she gave me a clue where it was I dug it up. I enjoyed the game immensely. Next time she says she will use something I can smell better. It was amazing that even though I watched her bury the bone, once it was covered in dirt I couldnt find it. It was literally right under my nose. How many times have you been looking for something only to find it in an obvious place? Sometimes we cannot see things right in front of us because although we are looking we are not seeing. Our minds are occupied elsewhere so our concentration lacks focus. Other times we choose not to see because it may be painful to do so. To realize that someone is not who they appear to be, or pretend to be, to come to the realization that you may not have tried hard enough or passed blame are all scenarios where one may put their head in the proverbial sand to avoid unpleasantness. The flip side to our situational blindness is that it may keep us from recognizing how good we actually have it. We may be so busy searching for something that we miss the clues as to where it actually is. All that may be needed is a change of focus. Let go of the old. Your house, spouse or family will never change until you change the way you choose to deal with them. Refocusing your energies on finding the good things hidden in your self and others. You may find that what you would like to find has been there all along...right under your nose.” ~Riddick
