Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are rights. Rights are - TopicsExpress

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are rights. Rights are not earned by the individual, they are given. Protecting them is earned... against oppressors. If we believe in rights, we must believe in evil, and anything opposing rights is therefore evil. Things which are mandatory prerequisites for rights are also rights. Medical care is absolutely required for life, for liberty, and for the pursuit of happiness, thus making it a right. The issue of responsibility isnt even worth discussing. Its simply something that should be there. So how does it get provided? For those who cant afford their own health care, a redistribution of resources is the only way. Thats what taxes should be used for- giving people a hand up so they may then pursue opportunities to become self-sustaining. Those who simply assume everyone will become addicted to whatever helps are given are either spoiled assholes or regurgitating what they were spoon-fed. Everyone needs help and not everyone has access to that help of their own power or genetics. Thats why government was created. Without government, youre relying on your guns in a war of anarchy, and just because you think youre tough doesnt mean 20 people less tough cant out-gun you. If you want to go die in a war, enlist. So in short: either accept that socialized medicine is what is just, or go enlist and die in a war... and dont play Platoon with Charlie Sheen, get DirecTV.
