Life of Abu Bakr As Siddique (R.A) - Part 5 - The original name of Abu Bakr (R.A) Was Abdul Kaaba (servant of Kaba) Some children born before him didnt survive . So when He born his family named him Abdul Kabaa and dedicated him as slave (Khadim) to Holy kabaa . Abu Bakr (R.A) was lean and thin with slender constitution .He was very strong minded and has tenacity and strength of rocks around him . Like the golden sun of desert his Face glows of complexion with red and white . By all standards He was a beautiful man , and for his beauty he earned the title Atiq . Having been bred up with midst of Bedouins who called them Ahl -i-Baeer ( the people of the camel ) He developed particular fondness for camels . His love for camels earned him with the surname Abu Bakr ( The father of the foal of camel ) . Once father of Abu bakr (R.A) took him to Kabaa in childhood and asked him to pray in front of idols . Then his father went away for some business . Little Abu Bakr (R.A) addressing the idol and said : if youre God ! bestow me with beautiful clothes The idol remained indifferent . Then again Abu Bakr (R.A) turned to different idol and said : If youre God ! Give me some delicious food . Im so hungry . The idol remained cold . The exhaust little Abu Bakr (R.A) lifted a stone and said : I m aiming a stone , if youre God protect yourself . Abu Bakr (R.A) hurled the stone at the idol , which broke it into pieces . Abu Bakr (R.A) left the place and never worshipped idols again . This encounter with idols , made him Muslim by heart long back , Before his formal acceptance to Islam. Education : He didnt received any formal education . However he was a keen observer . He used to attend fair at Ukaz to participate in poetry competition , he had a good memory and recite poetical verse . Even after heard them only once . Business: at the age of eighteen Abu Bakr (R.A) went into trade and adopted family business of a cloth merchant . He sponsored trade caravans to Yemen , Syria Iraq and Abysinnia . He came to recognized as one of the richest merchants of Makkah . To be Continued ..
