Lift testing video today for my new coach. Yes, you read that right Ive hired a powerlifting coach by the name of Mike Zourdos. He is the assistant professor of exercise science and health promotions at Florida Atlantic university. Hes also known as the daily undulating periodisation (DUP) dude. I was, at first apprehensive taking on a coach as I like to think Im fussy. The industry is rife with charlatans and jokers so I really wanted to find the right fit for what I was looking for. I first heard of Mike from Luke Johnson over at Elite Fitness Mentoring. After watching his webinar on DUP I was sold. Excellent in the trenches experience with programming for the likes of Layne Norton and bolstering that with solid academic credentials. Really looking forward to working with him all the way up to the BDFPA British Finals on the 28th and 29th of March. This was my first training session for 3 weeks. After a weeks holiday in Dubai I managed to get what can only be described as the worst man flu in history then had to jump on a flight to New York for a course so havent been able to get into the gym. Numbers were down a little but happy to be in and around where I am for taking this time off. Squat - 195kg Bench Press (paused) - 142.5kg Deadlift - 230kg Squat felt heavy and I think as much as I could of gone. Bench felt slower than it looked so stuck at that. Deadlift felt a little ugly and it also looks it from the video. A few things to work on but really looking forward to the coming months.
