Like I usually end up doing (hey Scott), I had a look at a few videos; specifically the sword carrier ones. It is all timing to beat him and we did pretty damn well for, what, about 30 minutes to try? With regard to location, the side we chose to attack from works well, but puts us in a strain of killing adds vs attacking Crota for perfect timing. If the timing is slightly off, it puts me in a tricky spot of survive, or DPS. The video below would have us stay in the bottom tunnel the entire time. No relocation required, no surprise Crota sword slaughtering when we arent prepared for him to enter the room... just DPS and gettin turnt post kill. The BIGGEST part of the new location is no adds other than thralls and some Ogres, but well already be set. Also, Crota resets to his spot pretty much every time down here. More on that below. They also wait at the far back as opposed to the tunnel. Things learned here: 1) MOST IMPORTANT: In the few videos Ive watched, they NEVER kill the swordbearer until Crota moves back to his spawn in the back. Stall until he does, then go to town. We probably have plenty of time before enrage as long as I do my part (and goddamn it, Ill try). 2) Obvious, yes, but Audio cues! The music changes (and its pretty good in my eyes. Gets you pumped) as you pick up the sword, but it also cues the ending of how long I can hold it. Its a good cue for anyone shooting at Crota, too, to judge whether you should/shouldnt engage. 3) Personal note keeping: The ledge I use to jump up is angled, so it explains some slippage. Just have to pay more attention to it and Ill cut that sheit out. Also leave earlier than expected before Crota jumps back up. 4) His nova spam is pretty huge, so I have MAYBE 4-5 seconds of DPS time before I HAVE to run. That is your cue to shoot, me running. On that, though, I have a choice of, 1) hit and run, or 2) hit, drop sword, melee to go invisible, you guys shoot, and I DPS again. Yes, the first one is a lot safer, but the 2nd option, which I did successfully a few times, can have us knock him down to half in one sword possession. The key is deciding, as a group, which method to use: communication wise. 5) Ive been reading about launchers (even Ballahorn) being inconsistent on the DPS needed to knock him down, which leads to me either, a) having to delay, or 2) rushing out too early. That will be fixed with more runs more than likely, BUT...theres also an alternative. Ice, Ice, BREAKER. Or VoC. Apparently the DPS is far more consistent and calculated, which allows the blade dancer master race to get a better feel on timing. Again, perhaps not needed, but I would like to try this out; even as a one time trial. Lastly, if you point at Crota, he points back. Try it. (Good thing my brother doesnt have Facebook. Im not telling him about this).
