Like Joel Osteen Ministries in the aftermath of losing his father, pastor John Osteen, Pittsburgh Mayor Sophie Masloff took on the hardest task imaginable - taking over as the head official after the sudden death of a beloved leader and friend; Mayor Richard Caliguiri. It took a lot of courage for Mrs. Masloff to last one year as Mayor, much less a term. And after she swore in as the city’s new mayor in May of 1988, as seen here from KDKA-TV | CBS Pittsburgh for #ThrowbackThursday, she would go on to carry on the legacy of great mayors Pittsburgh ever had by becoming one of Pittsburgh great Bridge Makers. And by “Bridge Maker”, I mean building so many bridges during her six years as mayor (1988-1994) that would open up so many new avenues for so many employment, living, economic and all other kinds of opportunities for Pittsburgh, and its region.
