Like a good little hotel manager, today I cleaned our rock stars - TopicsExpress

Like a good little hotel manager, today I cleaned our rock stars room. Everything Ive pushed into corners as Ive finished with it has been removed, the meds are organised instead of sitting where Ive left them and Ive replaced her already clean bedding with brand new, even cleaner bedding in the hope that it has a little more spring in it. :) The problem with an animal who doesnt move is that you can just leave stuff lying around in the knowledge that shes not in harms way from it, so you push tidiness down on the priority list. And Im an untidy worker at the best of times. ;) While I was doing this, she munched her food, watched me work listened to (cringed at?) my singing and moved herself a lot. She didnt go far, but I can now see how its happening which is a bonus. Shes inching her way across the floor with her front end. A little shift of weight here, a leg movement there, a couple of turns to scratch her ribs with her mouth, and shes moved a few inches. There doesnt seem to be any purposeful desire to be in a different place, and there isnt any large uncontrolled movement that will damage muscles or pull tendons. Being able to shift her weight and adjust her front legs is great, because it will allow her to decide what she needs to do to take pressure off her sore and then do it. Shes also doing a lot of stretching of her hind legs which is awesome. Again, this now becomes difficult from a management perspective, but I can work around it now that I know her movements are calm and small rather than big, panicked pushes. Ive looked at the initial photos of her wounds that I posted a while ago and have now realised just how much theyve shrunk. Theyre actually doing quite a bit better than Id thought, and are likely to speed up in their healing now that shes started moving and stretching her legs on her own and getting that circulation flowing a little better. Bring on her wheels!! Id like to move her out of that pen now and closer to the big lambs in the front yard. She hasnt had her immunisations yet so I cant, but I plan to sort that out early in the week. Id also like to see the weather predictions looking a little less rainy before I move her. My crossing was flooded last week and its the middle of January! I have a small yard that nobody has grazed for a season thats built inside the front yard where the lambs are, so this is a good spot for her where she can graze the place Ive put her in and I can move her a couple of times a day for access to a different patch of grass. I need to do a few things to prepare it, first and foremost put in a shelter, but I think it will do her the world of good to be out in the fresh air with some nearby friends she can interact with. Pending the weather, this is the goal for the first part of next week. I havent told her yet. I want it to be a surprise. Thank you to everybody who has donated toward her walker and her ongoing care. I really appreciate your help, and Im sure she would too if she had any comprehension of whats going on and how much support she has from all over the world. Unfortunately, she speaks only the language of grass. Im yet to hear her vocalise, so Im not even sure she speaks sheep. Perhaps grass is her native language. Shes certainly fluent...
