Nothing like lIugging around a ton of equipment, packing the back up after a game and dealing with all the bumps and bruises. A catchers job never stops as there are always bullpens to catch. Putting the gear on in 90 degree weather and surviving a long inning where your team can not get an out. The last game of the day after catching a couple of games the day before. If a catcher is not a good leader, they learn to be by playing this position. As catchers advance they have to learn to come early and stay late to get their reps in hitting. They are always cut short in swings as they are catching BP. Catchers rarely are able to throw and do catcher specific drills as team situations overtake the ability to do so. Catchers make very good managers as they have a different perspective than the other position players having control of the game by calling pitches and learning a pitchers tendencies. Catcher has to know when to challenge a pitcher and his teammates and when to encourage and pat them on the back. This is a great game but it is the best when wearing the Tools Of Ignorance.
