Like many, I have been keeping up with news related to Ebola. Its so fascinating to me how horrible this outbreak is; I remember my mom telling me as a kid what Ebola was and the cyclic outbreaks that many places in Africa would experience. Its incomprehensible that this time, it has spread so quickly and has claimed thousands of lives. However, Im baffled and disappointed in the reaction to the death of Eric Duncan (patient zero in the United States). Its clear that he did not receive the appropriate amount of care that saved the lives of Dr. Brantley and Nancy Writebol, and the comments that Ive seen plastered all over discussion boards show the vile nature of many people in this country. He wasnt American, No medical insurance, so he doesnt deserve the taxpayer money, Its his fault that it is over here now. I hope people take a moment and consider what THEY would do if they were exposed to Ebola. What if your family was all the way on the other side of the world, in a place where medical care has proven to eradicate the virus in a number of people? Wouldnt you want to be there? Wouldnt you want the chance to have your life saved? Where is the compassion of fellow humans? Where is the respect and the dignity for someone who has died from probably one of the most vile, vicious, and miserable viruses in the history of Earth?
