Like many across North America, of late I have been following with interest the declining positive public perception of a couple of politicians: US President Barack Obama and Toronto, Canada, Mayor Rob Ford. A variety of polls show these pols numbers slipping unfavorably, which leads to discussions, in part, about which polls might be the most accurate measure of public sentiment. Im not a polling expert, nor a student of political science, to venture forth a credible voice in these discussions. But I can say this: Tomorrow is the annual Santa Parade in Toronto. When asked what they would do if Mayor Ford showed up to take part (Hes in the Right jolly old elf physical mode), organizers said, Well, if the mayor decides to show up, theres nothing we can do to stop him. And when the organizers of The Santa Parade say they dont want you there but they cant do anything to prevent you from coming, your ass couldnt be farther jammed in the popularity wringer.
