Like many of cinemas great contemporary actor and director teams, relationships, partnerships, or whatever you want to call them, like Sam Jackson & Quentin Tarantino, Bill Murray & Wes Anderson, Michael Caine & Christopher Nolan, Johnny Depp & Tim Burton, Leo & Martin Scorsese, Michael Fassbender & Steve McQueen, and the list goes on and on... my favorite pair was Philip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Thomas Anderson. But alas, after today we sadly cant expect to see anymore outings of this fine filmic chemistry. My favorite performance of his being his scene (over the phone) with Adam Sandler in PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE. But outside of PT Andersons works, from SAVAGES to CAPOTE to MONEYBALL, to ALMOST FAMOUS and M:I3 (and again, the list goes on), PSH was one of our great American actors and will surely be missed. RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman.
