Like most structures built in Kansas City in the 1970s & 80s this was ahead of its time. This was one of my greatest accomplishments as a child. I rode this bad boy. I was scared as hell all the way through the line waiting to get on. I rode it and liked it but when my uncle Glen asked if I wanted to ride it again. ..............hell no! At least not that night but that thing stuck in my memory forever and was a staple of my visits! After many rides on extreme coasters all over the country this one remains my fav. To this day nothing has been built on its former location after it closed in 2003. Only the trainhouse remains. Its been said that the spot remains open out of respect for the parks favorite thrill machine, but Ive also read its considered hallowed ground to coaster enthusiasts everywhere. Its fan base extends all over the country. Id heard a rumor it was torn down and dumped in the river. I also heard a rich man in Spain bought it and put it in his back yard............sadly none of these are true. I couldnt find anything about the whereabouts of its remains except that a collector bought a piece of track and a car to display in a Hunt family members private collection. RIP Orient Express you are missed!
