Like nature with its storms and seasons, the world around us keeps changing. In the midst of the spreading corruption, are we prepared to stand firm in Christ no matter what happens? Some of us older folks still remember the cruel war that ravaged Europe and devastated nations during the second World Wars. Many others simply take todays peace for granted, ignoring the fact that we may soon face unthinkable turmoil, scarcity and lawlessness. In fact, many believe we may well be headed for World War III and global tyranny. Christians around the world are facing hatred, hostility, persecution and death. We need to pray for them -- and for America as well. Here, in the land of the free we can no longer ignore the moral corruption and anti-Christian environment. Our freedom is fading fast, and once again we find ourselves on the downside of the timeless cycle (below) dating back to ancient Israel. But be encouraged! All these dangers make the promises of our sovereign Savior all the more precious to us: “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
