Let your heart, therefore, be perfect with the Lord our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day. (1 Kings 8:61) God knows we cannot be perfect, but He does expect sincere devotion characterized by a full commitment to not only know His Word, but to live our lives in conformance to Biblical principles. The word perfect in this verse does not mean sinless perfection, but whole, finished, complete, or more appropriately, wholehearted or single-minded. Are you serving God wholeheartedly or is your devotion split among other priorities? Is your dedication to the Lord truly sincere or do you compromise occasionally on Gods Word? Remember Pauls God-inspired words to the Corinthian church, Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Cor. 15:58)
