Like the discovery that allosauroids not only survived but thrived - TopicsExpress

Like the discovery that allosauroids not only survived but thrived well into the Cretaceous, this makes me really happy--first because I _like_ diplodocoids, elegant creatures that they were, and second and more importantly because it is yet another reminder that geological periods are, in most cases, simply labels that we assign to certain times rather than strict natural divisions. (Exceptions are things like Big Rocks, of course.) Just as the historical processes that we think of as characteristic of certain decades and centuries almost always turn out to have started earlier and ended later than we think, so do certain types of life just kind of ... do their thing, as their ancestors did and their descendants will.
