Like to know your thoughts as local hospital is in lock down because of diarrhea bug supposedly going through hospital. I have been fronting up to the desk every day for a over a week visiting my stepfather who isnt real well, however he doesnt have the bug! Today I walk in and all of a sudden I have to have mask, disposable gown covering everything and gloves because apparently the ward I have been going to is now the one that is contagious? No problem I adhere to protocol :) Im the only one sitting in the ward with the 3 patients 2 of which have the bug and the my step dad who doesnt, however he is giving the staff a run for their money by stating obvious to his doctor who is agreeing with him that they should quarantine the ones who have it so other people dont get it? Nurses response is well you may have it but dont know yet?? His response is well Im probably going to get if you leave me here in the ward where they have it?? Then in walk visitors from the street who none use anti bacterial gel or gown up even though Im sitting there all done up?? Apparently they had been in before and knew protocol?? Then in walks another doctor who looks like he has just come from operating theater? Doesnt use anti bacterial gel or gown up?? Tells the guy who has the bug he can go home tomorrow? Then Doc walks out down the hall into another ward with out even using gel?? LIKE REALLY and we are supposed to place trust in a system when the doctor doesnt even follow protocol?? Please know I thought the nurses where run off their feet and it wouldve been hard to control any of this :(
