Like you, I am extremely frustrated by President Obama’s repeated abuse of executive power. I am committed to doing everything I can to stop his illegal amnesty, and yesterday’s vote is the best strategy to accomplish that goal. Make no mistake, President Obama would have benefited from a government shutdown and it would not have stopped his amnesty. It would have strengthened his hand to move forward on his illegal amnesty because in the event of a shutdown, the President chooses which government programs remain operating. He would have continued to put American workers and families last – just like he did last fall during the government shutdown - all while still issuing work permits to illegal immigrants. The House doesnt control 100% of the power of the purse. Any limitation has to pass the Senate. Yesterday’s bill moved the fight ahead to a time when a Republican Congress controls 100% of the purse and takes away the Presidents ability to hold a government shutdown, soldier pay and Social Security checks over our heads. It is much stronger ground for the fight. I’m not going to back down, but we have got to have patience to accomplish our goal.I share your passion to block the President’s illegal amnesty, and this is the best tactic to do that. In a matter of weeks, the new Republican-controlled Congress will send President Obama legislation that forces him to make a choice: does he stand with the American people, or does he continue to push his illegal executive amnesty? hudson.house.gov/opeds/hudson-im-committed-to-blocking-president-obamas-illegal-amnesty/
