Lilac Festival kicks off tomorrow. Here is a list of all the events. The post is longer than a Jason St. Onge dinner menu but we are thankful to be able to post the daily schedule here. (For a shortcut you can go to mackinacislandlilacfestival.org) 65th Annual Mackinac Island Lilac Festival June 6-15, 2014 While unlikely, events are subject to change. Daily: A Spring Exhibition - Mackinac Art Gallery is pleased to present an art exhibition by Island painters Kitty Hannabass, Nicki Griffith and Pat Pulte. The Spring Show takes place at the Murray Hotel. Birds of a Feather - Island artists, painter Bill Murcko and photographer Betty Murcko present their exhibition featuring 48 works of art of the birds of Mackinac Island. Mackinac Island Public Library. Center for the Arts - Mackinac Arts Council in collaboration with Central Michigan University present the exhibition The Clarke Historical Library, Molson Art Collection of Children’s Book Illustrations at the Center for the Arts at Mission Point Resort. Win a Mackinac Island Lilac! Enter to win the drawing which will be on Sunday June 15, 2014. To enter stop by the Gallery any time during the week of the Lilac Festival. Mackinac Island Lilacs are also available for purchase. Artistic Mackinac Art Gallery, Astor Street. No purchase necessary to enter/win. 12pm-2pm Grand Luncheon Buffet - The legendary Grand Luncheon Buffet is a distinct highlight of the Island. It features hot and cold entrees, seafood, salad, pastries and more. No reservations necessary, dress is resort casual. There is a $10 admission fee for non-guests at Grand Hotel, however, those who partake in the luncheon buffet will have their admission fee deducted from their buffet luncheon. The buffet is $45 per person. 3:30pm-5pm Grand Hotel Afternoon Tea - Enjoy tea, sherry and champagne, petite finger sandwiches, fresh-baked scones and an array of pastries, accompanied by a chamber music recital. $30, no reservations necessary, dress is resort casual. Please know, there is a $10 admission fee for non-guests of Grand Hotel. 9:30-11:30pm Alex Graham & Grand Hotel Orchestra - Come hear what all the fuss is about as Graham and company take you on a musical journey. Grand Hotel dress code: coat and tie for gentlemen, dresses or pantsuits for ladies (after 6:30pm). 10pm Downtown Entertainment - Musicians and DJs take over the stages in our downtown pubs. Friday, June 6, 2014 Trunk Show - SomeWear on Mackinac presents Michigans own Robin Goodfellow Designs. Inspired by music, dance, nature and Shakespeare, Robin Goodfellow Designs creates whimsical necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Gate House Shops. 11am-4pm Mackinac Island Public Library Annual Book Sale - Stop in and pick up some books to support our library. The Library is a architectural gem and was designed by Richard Bos of Royal Oak, Michigan and the interior design is by Carleton Varney, who is also the interior designer for Grand Hotel. 1pm-5pm Michigan Beer and Wine Tasting, Bistro on the Greens at Mission Point Resort-Featuring wines from Black Star Farms, Good Harbor, Chateau Fontaine, Fenn Valley, and Chateau Grand Traverse along with Michigan Craft Beers including Petoskey Brewing, Cheboygan Brewery, Griffin Claw, Beards, Arbor Brewing and Saugatuck Brewery. Marquette Park, presented by Douds Market, Michigans oldest family run grocery store. 4:00pm Lilac Festival Grand Parade presented by Coca Cola - Considered a Local Legacy Event by the United States Library of Congress, this festival finale is led by the family of Don Andress, Carl Andress & Jamie Andress-Islanders and direct descendants of Chief Mackinac along with Don and Darold Keith, descendants of Chief Pontiac and Chief Okemos. 5:30pm Parade Winners & $10,000 Raffle - This marks the end of the festival where we announce the parade winners and select the raffle winners. $100 raffle tickets are available from the Tourism Bureau.
