Tillman Brown was born on February 27, 1925 to Ben and Perline Moffett Phillips, both who preceded her in death, in Meridian, Mississippi. She was the youngest of 14 children, all who preceded her in death. She confessed Christ as an early age at Zion Hill Church in Mississippi where she received her formal education. She married O.B. Tillman, who preceded her in death, and to this union 3 sons were born, Dr. Jimmy Tillman, I, Saidi (George Tillman, Sr.) Nguvu {deceased}, and Bennie Tillman, Sr. {deceased}. Later she married Jonas Brown, Jr., who preceded her in death, and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where they raised their son Jonas Brown Bey, III. Her great granddaughter Jace Kennedy-Tillman also preceded her in death. Evangelist Brown was a faithful member of Cathedral of Praise C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Bishop Edgar L. Allen, Jr. in Indianapolis. There she became an evangelist and minister. She served on the Mother’s Board, the prison ministry in Marion County, as well as at Michigan City and Pendleton Prisons. She was a great, international prayer warrior for many. Her “If you need a prayer” calling card could be found all throughout Indiana. Those who would call her home was always greeted with “Praise the Lord”. She baked bread and made wine from her private vineyard for communion. She saved many souls in the living room of her home. She supported many television ministries, the March of Dimes, and countless other organizations that helped those in need. She had pen pals all across the globe and her mailbox would be overflowed with prayer requests, cards, and well wishes. After a brief illness she moved to Chicago to live with her son Dr. Jimmy Tillman, I and family where she attended Transformation Church under the leadership of Rev. Andrew Hunt, Jr. In Chicago she was hugged and kissed every day. After a playful evening with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she walked without assistance to bed. On the morning of January 19, 2014 Evangelist Lillie Kate Tillman Brown got up, got dressed, made her bed, sat down in her favorite chair by the window with the Holy Bible and received her reward. God opened up His pearly gates and said “Job well done, welcome Home and rest a while.” A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter,and friend. She LOVED and PRAISED the Lord. She always took time to pray for those whom she came in contact with. To cherish her loving memory two sons Dr. Jimmy Tillman of Chicago and Jonas Brown Bey of New York; four daughter-in-laws Dorothy Wright Tillman, Dorothy Marie Tillman, Dorothy Mae Tillman, and Maisha Amen; 13 grandchildren Wanda (Shanimah) Tillman, George (Jahah) Tillman, Jr., Jimmy Tillman, II (DMetra), Ebony Tillman, Bennie Tillman (Enji), Gimel Tillman, Bemaji Tillman, Naima Nguvu-McDermott (Joseph), Nefertiti Nguvu, Deidra V. Peters, Jimalita Tillman, Jamari TIllman (Cynthia), Fatima Smalls; 36 great-grandchildren: Athena Sinclair, Taylor Nicole Watkins, Melanie Evans, Danae Chandani Wise, Jasmine Tillman, De’Ja Taylor, Jahaz Tillman, Jahmira Tillman, Li’Kaya Tillman, Jahcier Tillman, Aaliyah Tillman, Jahad Tillman, Shakur Tillman, Malachi Tillman, C’jaiya Tillman, Mariah Tillman, Sarajii Tillman, Xavier “Xavi Baby” McDermott, Zora “ZaZa” McDermott, Adjua Nguvu, Jaylen Peters, Tyson Peters, Payton Tillman, Tierra Tillman, Arbenni Tillman, Darmarjir Tillman,Jimmy Lee Tillman, III, Jogay Ra Amen Tillman, Jimel Tillman, Dorothy Darlene Tillman, Ebun-Abeje Tillman-Massey, Jumoke Tillman-Howell, Kolin Bilbrew, Artist Joshua Tillman, Harmony Addison Tillman, and Dorothy Jean Tillman II. A spiritual daughter Carolyn Prater and countless others who lovingly referred to her as Mother Brown. A multitude of nieces and nephews; grand and great grands; and a host of others relatives and friends.
