Limoni Manu OUiha MESSAGE FOR ISRAEL AND JUDAH: Isaiah - TopicsExpress

Limoni Manu OUiha MESSAGE FOR ISRAEL AND JUDAH: Isaiah chapters 28-35 seem to relate to the Assyrian invasions. 2 Kings 17:1-18:12 records that during the reigns of Ahaz and Hezekiah, Shalmaneser King of Assyria took captives from Israel. In the 14th year of the reign of Hezekiah, Sennacherib King of Assyria tried to do the same with Judah (2 Kings 18:13-17). What were God’s people to do? Surrender? Or put their trust in neighboring nations like Egypt? The message was clear, deliverance comes from God, trust Him. 28:1-13 – is directed to Ephraim (Israel). Her crown of “pride,” “beauty,” and “glory,” will be “trampled underfoot” and “fade” away (vv. 1-4). In that day Yahweh Almighty will be a “glorious crown” for the “remnant of his people” (vv. 5-6). Intoxication has led Israel away from God (vv. 7-8). Consequently, they failed to benefit from His instructions (vv. 9-13). 28:14-29 – is a message for Jerusalem (Judah). Her leaders, like King Ahaz, had boasted in falsehood and made a lie their refuge (vv. 14-15). Yahweh will lay in Zion a “precious cornerstone for a sure foundation” (v. 16). God “will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line (v. 17). He will come to their rescue, annul their agreements and remove their false and inadequate confidences (vv. 18-22). God gives them a lecture on agriculture and lessons of the harvest intended to make His wonderful plans for them known (vv. 23-29). LORD, HELP US NOT TO PLACE OUR CONFIDENCE IN THE TEMPORAL BUT RATHER IN THE LIVING GOD OF ISRAEL. MAY WE LEARN TO TRUST YOU FULLY TODAY FOR DELIVERANCE AND SALVATION COMES FROM YOU, AMEN.
