Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office News Release Lincoln County Sheriff’s “Officers of the Year for 2014” Awards Announced December 11, 2014 Lincolnton, NC – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office law enforcement officers of the year were presented Wednesday night to a veteran narcotics investigator and dedicated detention officer. The fourth annual “Sergeant John H. Howell III Memorial Deputy Sheriff of the Year” award went to Detective Lt. Tim Johnson. Johnson has served the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office for almost 25 years as a patrol officer, transport officer and Criminal Investigations supervisor. In nominating Lt. Johnson the entire detective division stated, “Tim exemplifies what a true law enforcement officer should be. He takes his position very serious and gives 100 percent at whatever he does. He cares about his people, his Sheriff and the citizens of this county and has proven this time and time again.” The fourth annual “Thomas R. Taylor Detention Officer of the Year” award was presented to Detention Officer Andrew Mocilan. Mocilan began his career at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in 2011 as a detention officer. From the beginning Mocilan exhibited an outstanding work ethic in the detention center. Soon after beginning work for the Sheriff’s Office Mocilan volunteered his time as an advisor to the Explorer program and continues to devote numerous hours to ensure the program remains successful. In 2013 Officer Mocilan while working full time as a detention officer attended the night class of Basic Law Enforcement Training at Gaston County to achieve certification. The officers of the year awards are presented for outstanding achievement that brings credit to the Sheriff’s Office and involves performance well above that which is required by the officer’s normal assignment. Permanent plaques are displayed in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office showing each annual recipient of the awards. # # # #
