Linda - this is for you again! (Dont you just love my lyric-sharing with you these days? We really gotta hang out so we can listen to all these songs together!) Anyways, my favorite composer, Stephen Sondheim, wrote this song back in 1981 and its lyrics hold just as true today - its a short & simple song, though I couldnt have said any of this better myself - GOOD THING GOING It started out like a song We started quiet and slow, with no surprise. And then one morning I woke to realize We had a good thing going Its not that nothing went wrong: Some angry moments, of course, But just a few And only moments, no more, because we knew We had this good thing going. And if I wanted too much, Was that such a mistake at the time? You never wanted enough All right, tough, I dont make that a crime. And while its going along, You take for granted some love will wear away. We took for granted a lot, But still I say: It could have kept on going, Instead of just kept on. We had a good thing going, Going, Gone. Great song huh? I mean, I think we can all relate to the parts, And if I wanted too much, was that such a mistake at the time? and It could have kept on going, instead of just kept on - wiser words have never been spoken - or sung, as the case may be :)
