Below is a summary of the facts followed by links for documentation: . The following excerpt is from an article I wrote last summer in the Oklahoma Constitution Newspaper. President Obama on June 1, 2013, announced an initiative to give all schools higher level technology. According to the Huffington Post, he wants teachers to have an ability to assess learning hour-by-hour and day-by-day,… The move to digitize classrooms comes just in time for states that are slated to implement assessments tied to the Common Core, a set of learning standards adopted by most U.S. states. The tests tied to the Core are primarily digital, a situation that poses a problem for rural schools that don’t have the computers or the bandwidth to test entire classes at once. So (Oklahomas State Superintendent Janet Barresi) Barresi’s recent statement that we don’t have the technology needed for testing fits hand-in-glove with the President’s plans which he expects to pay for with an increase in our telephone bills through E-Rate. . Now, following his August 29th letter below, Obamas Secretary of Education is pushing local school superintendents to sign a pledge to agree to his plans. As my friend in New York said: Obama is asking all Superintendents to sign the pledge before Oct. 7 2014 when there will be an event at the White House honoring 100 exemplary Superintendents for their leadership in the digital transition. Included in the pledge is Universal Access for All Students to Quality Devices… & high quality digital content … as an essential part of daily teaching and learning. ........Future Ready districts use carefully selected high quality digital content that is aligned to college and career ready standards…. all of which help to return America to the nation in the world with the highest college completion rate by 2020.” . As my friend correctly observed --Of course none of our so-called international competitors have made this transition! The international, European based, OECD -Organization for Economic and Cultural Development, is controlling all of the statistics being used by Obamas Administration and their allies the National Governors Association to continually report how America is Failing. This PUSH to rush into full technology controlled and established through the Federal Government is another dangerous move from local to federal control which should be stopped! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Obamas June 2013 --Education Technology Initiative Announcment huffingtonpost/2013/06/06/obama-connected_n_3392817.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Letter to School Superintendents tech.ed.gov/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/140904_FRPledgeIntroductoryLetter_ApprovedPledge1.pdf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Federal Education Technology tech.ed.gov Linda Murphy OBAMA -PUSHING LOCAL SUPERINTENDENTS TO SIGN PLEDGE -UNIVERSAL ACCESS for DAILY DIGITAL CURRICULUM & TESTING Heads Up!!! -Parents & Teachers in every state.
