Linde is currently seeking an H2 Fueling Engineer to join the team in the Hayward, California area. Job Responsibilities: 1. Technical sales support • Attend conferences/tradeshows/seminars/meetings: represent Linde’s interests, uncover opportunities for Linde solutions. • Network with other industry players to promote Linde interests. • Provide standard product technical information and cost estimates for input into final technical and commercial proposals, and develop content for standard proposals. • Work closely with the Business Development and local sales/CD teams to ensure the appropriate solution is identified and delivered. • Provide expert technical knowledge & support to the team for proposal and project execution. • Where appropriate, provide support for training, commissioning and troubleshooting. • Process, equipment, and application expert for HazOp, PSR, and other safety reviews. • Work closely with the local engineering and sales teams to define scope of projects & proposals. • Develop content for standard proposals. • Work closely with technical sales and equipment design teams to ensure the appropriate solution is identified and delivered. 2. Project Execution • Engage the local Bus Dev lead early and coordinate local support for project scoping and execution. • Help guide the safe execution of hydrogen fueling projects on time, to budget and to specification, ensuring customer satisfaction. • Assist with customer engagement and coordination of responses to customers. • Ensure that the requirements of hydrogen fueling market sector are incorporated into the designs. • Ensure that all relevant legislation, Linde requirements, standards, best practice and hydrogen fueling segment needs are adhered to throughout the project. • During installation, ensure that safe working practices are followed & support the project manager in successful execution, meeting schedule and budget targets. • Work with the project manager to co-ordinate the testing, commissioning and handover of the project to the end-user and provide a full package of user documentation to enable safe operation and maintenance of the installation. 3. Product Engineering/Development • Champion delivery of technical solution and documentation for repeated standardized installations. • Ensure proper safety considerations are always encompassed with respect to design, project execution, fabrication, startup and commissioning activities of the projects. • Participate in the idea generation and development planning of Lindes Hydrogen Solution market offerings for RNA. • Resolve application equipment problems encountered at customer and fabrication sites, including customer on-site consultations. • Technology Lead for Hydrogen fueling RNA: monitoring and contributing to the work of Linde support groups and third party vendors. • Qualify, evaluate and develop capabilities of consultants, vendors, and contractors for the purpose of improving application equipment and project execution. • Work with the Munich and Vienna Linde engineers as required for existing and proposed Hydrogen fueling projects and products. • Advise Hydrogen Solutions of possible component enhancements to standard offerings. • Develop training aids and provide training as required. • Formally feedback to Hydrogen Solutions and Commercial Development to ensure product development activities continue fully formed of lessons learned. • Work with equipment engineering group to develop standard packaged solutions where appropriate that are product managed by the Operations support team. 4. Knowledge Management/Codes and Standards leadership • Develop & Maintain expertise in the area of alternative energy technology and installations. Areas to include fuel cells, internal combustion engines, distributed power, vessel and hydride storage, dispensers, sensors, etc. • Keep abreast of latest developments in the alternative energy arena, both technical and commercial. • Lead Linde participation in the development of North America Codes and Standards in support of DOE efforts develop a viable hydrogen vehicle fueling infrastructure. • Participate in generating training materials and in the specific training of local BU sales and technical solutions teams. Minimum Qualifications: • BS in Science/Engineering required; MBA or masters in engineering a plus • 10+ year of diverse engineering experience to include field, process, and/or application support experience • 5-7+ years demonstrated performance in project management and technical sales support • Experience with engaging & supporting virtual teams • Experience working with internal and external customers and ability to represent Linde at relatively senior levels with customer and other external organizations • PM, green/black belt certification a plus • Strong commercialization process and value creation knowledge essential to position Linde for optimal success • Strong organizational and project management skills • Excellent technical/trouble-shooting, analytical and quantitative skills • Strong oral & written communication skills for both technical and general public audiences • Working knowledge of applicable industrial codes as they pertain to process, manufacturing, and operator safety • Strong knowledge of hydrogen energy technology, material properties, and underlying engineering principles • Good understanding of emergency response and safety principles and practices • Thorough understanding of applicable codes and standards • Ability to build consensus amongst diverse interests and personalities • Able to make decisions in a complex environment • Ability to integrate market needs with technological innovation • Effective at working across a peer group and influencing those outside of line of control Linde offers excellent salaries, world-class benefits, and unparalleled opportunities for development – all to create an invigorating and satisfying environment.
