Link Datacenter Company (Subsidiary of Orascom Telecom Ventures) is now hiring “Linux Systems Engineer Team Leader+ Junior Linux Systems Engineer” linkdatacenter.net “Linux Team Leader” Responsibilities: Provide status reporting of team activities against the program plan or schedule. Evaluates products and upgrades for appropriateness. Oversees and implements *nix systems upgrade strategies. Coordinate with internal and external customers as necessary. Handle escalated customer issues. Leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of any nix platforms solutions Coordinates activities with other technical teams as appropriates Develops and analyzes *nix systems standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance. Conducts capacity planning reviews with management and approves capacity plans formulated by less experienced personnel. Develops strategies to manage the frequency of appropriate support package/patch application, And provides appropriate recommendations, when required Researches current systems technology and serves as subject matter expert on *nix systems processes and procedures. Provides technical leadership to appropriate personnel on *nix systems administration activities. Provides technical solutions and escalated support for non-routine, nix systems technical issues Communicate expectations to team members Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in communication engineering or computer science Linux/Unix related certifications Security related certification. Minimum of 5-7 years as senior *nix systems administrator. Managing and troubleshooting Linux & UNIX systems. Previously worked in an enterprise level environment “Linux Systems Engineer” Responsibilities Maintain systems and networks procedure documentation. Performing routines audits of systems and software. Executing standards requests for database/system operations. Providing technical and functional support to Tier 1 technical support Applying operating systems updates, patches and configuration changes on a regular basis. Overall responsibility for ensuring the availability, performance and security of supported services within agreed service level agreements (SLAs). Diagnose and resolve NIX server, OS, network and other failures and engage internal specialists and vendors in the respective areas as required. Perform other job-related duties as required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communication engineering or computer science. Linux or UNIX related certification will be plus. 1-2 years’ experience Managing and troubleshooting Linux & UNIX systems. Entry-level Linux systems administration skills, (Redhat-cenots), preferred Entry-level Unix systems administration skills, (Solaris 9,10), preferred System Security Skills. Knowledge of Apache, BIND, IPtables, LDAP, MySQL.
