Lisa Austin from Apple Valley, MN at Walmart #2642 was recently disciplined for staying home to take care of her seven-month-old child while her husband was away training with the National Guard. Per Walmart policy, she requested the days off more than three weeks in advance but was still written up. Now she is close to being terminated and is afraid she will lose her job. The store manager told her that “her absence was inexcusable and everyone has kids.” Walmart associates who have spouses in the military should be able to take a short leave of absence when their loved ones are going overseas, are on a short trip back home or away for military training.
