Lisa says: Okay so I have a different form of question. Many other pages have called me stupid for asking, so im just going to keep trying. About 3 months ago a friend of ours came to us knowing that due to us being in a same gender marriage we are unable to conceive our own child. She was 3 1/2 months pregnant at the time asking us if we would be willing to adopt the child as she has four children already and the youngest has aspergers and attachment disorder, she feared what the child would due to the infant. . Christmas night we received a call that something had ruptured and the baby was coming within hours. The adoption papers are not finalized yet as we believed we had until mid February when her due date arrived. Yesterday morning our beautiful daughter was born at 7:49am weighing 5lbs and breathing normal. Due to her being premature they transferred her to a second hospital which has a NICU which could provide better care. The biological mother signed consent forms allowing us medical information and the opportunity to sit in the NICU with her until the papers are all finalized. When we arrived at the second hospital they informed us unless the social worker still had the papers, no consent forms were received and we had no access to information or visitation. We called the social worker who informed us the consent forms are useless and we must have the adoption paperwork finalized before we can receive any information or access. We re-contacted the biological mother and first hospital for more answers. The bio mom says she does not want to visit the baby as in her eyes, she is our daughter. She refuses to take the baby out of the hospital once able for previous stated purposes. . At this point, nobody has seen the baby in 24 hours other than the medical staff. What can we do? Our attorney is not available until Monday morning, the bio mom has been released and refuses to even call the hospital. She said she is willing to sign any papers or go to any courthouse to sign over guardianship or power of attorney, but the hospital specifically stated nothing until adoption papers are final. Will anything else be considered? We really just want to see her, know she is okay, and everything else mothers do when their child is born
