When the outside temperature is 33 degrees Celsius (93 degrees Fahrenheit), the temperature inside a car can reach 51 degrees Celsius (125 degrees Fahrenheit) in just 20 minutes and 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit) 40 minutes even if a window is cracked open. A car parked in direct sunlight can reach 55- 77 degrees Celsius (131- 172 degrees Fahrenheit), even after only fifteen minutes. At that temperature it only takes a matter of minutes for children to die or suffer permanent disability. Just this week in the news we read: Left in family car, Ontario boy, 2, dies Police said the boy had been left in the vehicle "for a significant portion of the day." Cops rescue girl, 2, from car Toronto -- Less than 24 hours after a two-year-old boy died in the scorching heat inside a car in Milton, Ont., another toddler had to be rescued from a vehicle in Markham, Ont., York Regional Police said Thursday. There is no excuse for this. Pure neglect. Child Abuse.
