Listen to His Voice, Follow Him This is borderline Idolatry... 27My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10 We must hear the voice of Jesus and obey. This is what living by faith really means, following the voice of God who we can not see. Most Christians do not hear His voice nor obey Him. This is scary because if we do not hear His voice and obey, we do not have eternal life. People believe reading the Bible is listening to the voice of Jesus and He only speaks through the Bible, you can not find this teaching in the Bible. The scriptures testify of Jesus and quote what He has said... He said His sheep hear His voice and follow Him. This means exactly what Jesus said, He was not speaking in code, He was not exaggerating, He said it plain and simple, not only this, the rest of the scriptures testify the same thing. People also forget satan spoke to Jesus using scripture trying to deceive Him and failed, yet satan is successful in deceiving many today with their own intellect of the scriptures. The these deceived people go and feed others the very deceptive, enticing and binding lies they believe... We are to be HEARING from God, when we obey this is our food, this is eternal life. It Is Written: 3Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17 3We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. 4Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. 1 John 2 4Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ Matthew 4 32But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” 33Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?” 34“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. John 4 27Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”... 63The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. John 6 5While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” Matthew 17 37“You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” John 18 There are so many we could go on and on. This is not new, God has always wanted us to hear His voice, before it was through prophets but now it is directly through His son: 1In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. Hebrews 1 25See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? Hebrews 12 7For there are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit: and these three are one. 8And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 1 John 5 12“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” John 16 It is clear Jesus speaks, we must hear Him and follow. This is what Faith is, hearing believing and obeying. People think trusting God with out hearing a thing is faith, they call it stepping out on faith, while they listen to people. Jesus speaks, we operate in faith when we hear and obey. How can you trust God if you do not know what He said? Why so many Deceived? In John chapter 10, He repeated that His sheep hear His voice and follow. So why is it so many do not hear Jesus directly but follow others, why is it people seek for mediators and middle men between them and God? Because many have been deceived, once you know Jesus voice you will not follow after anyone else, most do not know and have been deceived: 4When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.” John 10 His sheep will not follow strangers, but look what Jesus warned: 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people... 24For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25See, I have told you ahead of time. Matthew 24 The elect are the sheep they are the ones who receive eternal life because they obey His voice which is life. Many people are deceived believing they are Jesus sheep when they are following strangers and still struggling with or living in sin. If you are still sinning then you are not of Jesus sheep or at least if you were you have left Him. His sheep follow Him, they know Him, as we read above those who know Him obey, those who say they know Him and do not obey are liars (1 John 2:3-4). Many false preachers, teachers, prophets have deceived many, a lot of Christians are not following Jesus and do not hear His voice but believe they are saved, because they are following systems and traditions made by man. The deceptions are so thick that people actually block out the voice of Him who speaks from heaven with what they have learned from man, they hug their intellect of the scriptures and study, study, study... Yet continue in sin. They are forever learning but never coming to the knowledge of the Truth. With God we gain wisdom and knowledge through obeying His voice not studying (the note of "What is True Knowledge" goes into this). Jesus is the Truth, when you know Him you stop sinning and receive life. Look what Jesus said: 39You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40yet you refuse to come to me to have life. John 5 People read and study the Bible but never come to Jesus to receive LIFE. They continue in sin. This is not the following Jesus teaches, this is the following strangers teach. Strangers teach doctrines of demons that please the flesh, many follow after these traditions and teachings rather than hearing the voice of the Master and following. Many People follow after other people or their own interpretation of scriptures and get deceived by satan. 1The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 1 Timothy 4 Did you notice Paul quoted the Spirit. He heard from Him. Amazingly He described the teachers as hypocritical liars which means the teachings themselves will be hypocritical lies (leaven of the Pharisee). This is why Jesus told us to follow Him. If we follow religion, church and people in general we will be deceived into hypocrisy and end up with the many of the broad path that never found the narrow way to life, we will end up like the many who tried but could not make it. Make sure you are hearing the voice of Jesus and obeying, it starts with repentance, self denial and seeking Him diligently. Pray until you encounter Him with a PURE heart. A lot of people go to Jesus with selfish desire and ambitions and even sin and get deceived by the voice of satan. Obey what you know, repent from the sins you know and Jesus will show Himself to you (by revelation). Make sure you are following Jesus the Good Shepherd (Pastor) and not man and their system of hypocrisy and lies. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life... if you are not following Him alone you will be deceived and tossed into the lake of fire in the end. You can not listen to and follow Jesus while listening to and following man. If you are still struggling with sin, you are not following Jesus. May God bless and keep you in Jesus name.
