Listen to these words from a Vietnam Veteran. More than Veterans Day, today is Remembrance Day, especially the 11th minute, of the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month. It wasnt, nor will it ever be the war to end all wars. What I remember most about my times in Viet Nam is that we were lied to about why we were there. What we did and what we failed to do is why there is no happiness amongst us, or the current crop of pawns. We KNOW that in the depths of our souls, an unanticipated consequence of never being true warrior/heroes - regardless of the hype and propaganda shoveled at US. With the exception of Desert Storm, that has been the case for every conflict since Viet Nam. Deep Throat was correct, but didnt include the rest of Ikes military, industrial, congressional complex - what Ive been calling Ikes 1%, eg, those who profit most from keeping US paranoid, prepared and occupiers of other peoples turf.
